We got an early start. We drove about 2 hours, then stopped at a rest stop around 8:00 a.m. for breakfast.
Our first stop was the Ocean.
Then on to the giant redwoods.
Fortunately there was a lake nearby and that water was perfect for swimming.
We also went to Lasson National Park. Mt. Lasson is a volcano so there were boiling pots of mud around.
This is where we stopped for lunch. I know there is snow on the ground, but it was hot out.
This cave is actually a lava tube we walked through.
That is Mt. Lasson in the background of this picture.
And this rock that all the kids are climbing on was actually a piece of the volcano before it erupted last time. This rock flew miles away and landed right next to the road.
We stayed at a ranch. So many fun things to do there.
After 9 days we came home. We got home late and we were tired. Unpacking the van consisted of dropping everything in the front room and heading off to bed. It was such a great trip.
